We usually go to the c j's on LA Brea.It was my birthday. And i had not been to the CJ's on Pico, clean, nice, and quaint restaurant on the corner. The staff very nice and friendly they sang hapoy birthday to me that was a nice of them i appreciated it. I ordered chicken wings, eggs and grits, toast my mom had spam, eggs and grits. Food was out in a timely manner and well seasoned. We also had iced tea and lemonade, which was very good

This review is wayyy overdue--CJ's can do no wrong! There's a reason they've been around so damn long. We've eaten there a handful of times now and never been let down. The service, food, and value-- all legit and consistent. CHILAQUILES! CON HUEVOS! Git in my belly!! Scrumptious as all hell and always piping hot upon arrival. My words won't do it justice, so just order it. Right now. Perfect texture, flavor, filling portion, comes with goodass rice & beans, crema AND shredded cheese, and we always get over-medium eggs which are cooked just right. Oh and it comes with a dinner roll but we get the biscuit. Been wanting to try the huevos rancheros but just can't get myself to stray from the chilaquiles. We usually couple that with a 2+2+2+2 (of course they give you an extra "2" at CJ's). Bacon, sausage (why should it be either or?), eggs (we get scrambled), and great PANCAKES! AND free decent coffee! That they very generously and attentively keep pouring every time your cup is low. We've gotten this with french toast which is pretty good, but prefer the pancakes. Do not forget a side of home fries. Yesss please, with peppers and onions. Breakfast burrito is ON POINT. The last time we ordered it though, was a bit smaller than usual. Not sure if that was a one off, or the new size. Oh well. Still solid. Just not as shareable if so. Still delicious. Got the chili cheese omelette once, just because. Never have had one and I probably won't get one again, but it wasn't bad. Corned beef hash is just aight. CHICKEN & WAFFLES. Massive wangs fried to perfection. Great batter. Best fresh as they don't reheat super well due to the breading, but juicy and amazing. And pretty huge. Great waffles. We usually go midday on weekdays for brunch, and a cozy booth is always ready for us. The owner's son is usually there to greet us with a smile. Don't forget to graciously thank the chef through the kitchen window before leaving & tip well :P Go now!!!!!!

My beau and I wanted to try something different for brunch in mid-city. Met Her and Republique were feeling played out. So we decided to venture down Pico a ways and came across CJ's with a healthy line of people outside on a Sunday morning. Neither one of us had looked at the menu. We just added our name to the list and crossed our fingers and it worked out! We were seated within 10 minutes. This place has a greasy spoon/diner-ish feel and the menu has traditional breakfast faves but also Mexican breakfast staples and soul food. I mean the table has Tapatio, regular tabasco and Franks Red Hot sauce (plus they have a homemade salsa - which I liked). I got the chicken sausage, eggs and waffle. The boyfriend got corn beef hash and eggs. They all hit the spot and we will be adding this to our rotation. Why only 4 stars? The coffee. It wasn't good. Not even with flavored creamer. Have cafe at home first.

CJ's once again hits the mark with a simple soul food or southern breakfast. I had fried snapper, eggs and grits. Of course a bisquit came with the meal. This is a traditional southern breakfast and it the spot. The bisquit's were OK as they appeared store-bought instead of down-home homemade but they were acceptable. In replicating some recipe's or tradition it is best to go 100% homemade, otherwise the final product could miss the mark. Still, CJ's a solid for their array of soul food/Mexican dishes.

CJ's is undoubtedly one of the finest diner-style cafes you'll come across. Their service is impressively swift, and the menu epitomizes getting great value for your money. The servers consistently deliver top-notch service, and I've yet to encounter a single negative experience during my visits, which are frequent whenever I'm in the Pico/Robertson Culver City area. Ample parking is available both at the back and often at the front. In comparison to alternatives like Denny's and IHOP, CJ's shines brightly, leaving them in the dust. In conclusion, I enthusiastically recommend CJ's for its reasonable prices and impeccable service. Positives: Price, service Negatives: None!

Great service, pretty fast, super friendly staff.. A lot of food for the price.. This was my first time there and i was super impressed!! Good food and definitely will be back next time I'm in town...

Really good food and decent pricing. We had omelets, an order of their 2222, oxtail, and fried catfish. All was delicious, with great service and excellent flavor. I would say the place needs a little bit of a face-lift. Inside and outside seating. Very friendly service and quick service. Bathrooms and restaurants need updating. but again, really great service!

Just moved into the area a couple of weeks ago so this morning, Saturday, we want to try a local breakfast spot and we are both really happy that we tried CJ's. Parking was really easy, which is always a bonus. They have a parking lot in the back, but also parking on the street and the neighborhood behind are really easy. There was no wait when we arrived because we were a party of two however, parties of three and more had been waiting a little bit. Their menu is large and there are a lot of great choices both classic American dishes and Mexican breakfasts. They also serve lunch, but we only tried breakfast today. The service was very prompt, polite and they were very quick with the refills which is always huge to me. We ordered the Machaca breakfast which was delicious and filled with lots of meat, plus a side bagel, topped with avocado, and one of their specials this morning: the 2222, which was 2 Pancakes, Eggs, Sausages, and Bacon for $12. Also, their coffee is honestly really good. It's better than the coffee I get at work. I'm a huge fan of a few cups of coffee in the morning at breakfast, so it was a real highlight to me. Pricing is very fair, the flavors are terrific, the portion sizes are large, and parking was very easy. We will definitely be back many times in the future as we had a really great experience this morning. I would recommend to anyone looking for a great breakfast in a diner type of setting.
